I have been an avid fan of Aviation my entire life. Living in Wisconsin meant going to EAA AirVenture just about every year I can remember. With a father who was into Radio Control in was a natural progression to follow in his footsteps.
He was into several aspects of the hobby, but I mostly remember him flying large sailplanes. As I got older, I then was tasked with retrieving the hi start parachutes. Eventually I started making White Wing gliders. Being young gliders didn’t appeal to me. I transitioned to Radio Control Cars and raced them for number of years.
As most of us in these types of hobbies I got out of for a period of time to focus of jobs, school, and real cars/motorcycles. However, the bug never went away, and I started flying Radio Control airplanes again in 2010 and after a few years of the E-Flite box airplanes I stated building with a focus on giant scale warbirds.
A great tool to build giant scale warbirds is to use plastic models as a reference so I got back to building plastic models and very much enjoy them as well. I have built many models for people’s offices, gifts, or even for awards for Radio Control events.
If you ask anyone who knows me, I am very detail orientated almost to a fault. My shop is always clean, and I work diligently to build as accurately as possible. I have been flying on the Warbirds and Classics tour for about 6 years now and I have always been asked to build for others however I have always had enough of my own projects to keep me busy. Now that I have most of the planes built I want to with a small number still on my list, I want to keep modeling so I am taking on projects for others.
I am not doing this to replace my full-time job but if I can provide excellent models to others that is the satisfaction I am looking for. Hopefully there is something I can help you out with!
